Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) is reportedly preparing to introduce a new-generation Kia Picanto in Pakistan, potentially as early as September 2026. The development comes shortly after the existing Picanto was reportedly discontinued from the local market, creating speculation that Kia may be preparing a replacement rather than ending the Picanto nameplate altogether.
According to a report published on August 15, automotive expert Suneel Munj has indicated that LMC is working on bringing a newer Picanto to Pakistan. However, Kia has not yet officially confirmed the launch, specifications, pricing or exact timeline.
Existing Picanto Reportedly Discontinued
The current Kia Picanto had been locally assembled in Pakistan for nearly six years after its introduction in September 2019. Recent reports said that the model was removed from Kia Pakistan’s lineup and that new bookings had been closed.
The outgoing model faced challenges including relatively low sales, resale concerns, higher spare-parts costs and weak demand for its manual variant. Its price had reportedly climbed to around Rs. 3.6 million for the manual version and Rs. 3.85 million for the automatic version.
The reported arrival of a newer generation could therefore represent a major change in Kia’s strategy for Pakistan’s small-car market.
What Could the New Picanto Offer?
While official specifications have not been announced, expectations are high that the new model could bring a more modern exterior and interior design along with updated technology and safety equipment.
Internationally, newer Picanto versions feature a more contemporary design, modern infotainment technology and a range of driver-assistance and safety features depending on the market and trim level.
However, it is still unclear which exact version LMC plans to introduce in Pakistan. Reports and online discussions have raised the possibility of a newer facelifted version of the third-generation Picanto, rather than necessarily a completely new fourth-generation model.

The new Picanto would enter a competitive market dominated by affordable hatchbacks and compact cars. Buyers generally compare vehicles on purchase price, fuel economy, maintenance costs, resale value and availability of spare parts.
