Corrections Policy
We correct on the page, promptly, and we say what changed.
Every newsroom makes mistakes. What separates a trustworthy one is what happens next. We correct errors on the article itself, as quickly as we can confirm them.
How we correct
- Factual errors are corrected in the text and noted at the foot of the article with the date
- Substantive changes update the article's visible "Updated" timestamp
- Headline errors are corrected in the headline, not only in the body
- We do not silently delete published reporting, and we do not remove stories because they are inconvenient
- Where an error caused material harm, the correction is given the same prominence as the original claim
Clarifications
Where a story was accurate but open to misreading, we publish a clarification explaining the ambiguity rather than quietly rewording the sentence.
Report an error
Send the article link, the specific line at issue and any supporting evidence to the newsroom. We aim to respond within two working days, and we will tell you the outcome either way.
