Commonwealth Scholarship 2027: 5 Key Application Steps Now
Commonwealth Scholarship 2027 applicants from Pakistan must submit separate forms to HEC and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission by 20 October 2026. Missing either portal can make an otherwise strong application ineligible.

Key dates and available nominations
Deadline and study start
The CSC deadline is Tuesday, 20 October 2026 at 16:00 BST, while HEC lists its deadline as 20 October at 4:00pm Pakistan time. HEC expects nominations in December 2026, results around July 2027 and UK studies to begin in September or October 2027.
Nomination numbers
HEC lists 26 nominations for Master's study and 30 for general PhD study. Nomination does not guarantee an award; the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission makes the final selection.
Who can apply from Pakistan
Nationality and degree
Applicants must be Pakistani or AJK nationals and permanent residents; dual nationals are not eligible under HEC's criteria. Master's applicants need a first division in a relevant 16-year bachelor's degree. PhD applicants need a first division in a relevant 17- or 18-year master's, MS or MPhil degree.
Academic conditions
HEC says the latest degree must not carry a second or third division. Result-awaiting applicants may apply if they can provide the final degree and transcript before the academic session begins. There is no upper age limit on the HEC page, but CSC conditions also apply.
The HAT score requirement
Minimum score
Every applicant must provide a valid HAT score of at least 60 out of 100. HEC accepts HAT-I, HAT-II, HAT-III and HAT-IV for this programme and says tests taken on or after 25 October 2024 may be considered.
October test handling
HEC identifies the tentatively scheduled 25 October 2026 HAT as the last eligible test for this cycle. If that result arrives after the application deadline, HEC says it will add the valid score for nomination purposes. Applicants must still submit both applications by the deadline.
Five application steps that matter
Complete both portals
First, read the CSC route for the correct Master's or PhD programme. Second, prepare academic records, references and development-focused statements. Third, submit the CSC form. Fourth, complete the HEC profile and choose Learning Opportunities Abroad. Fifth, submit and save copies of both confirmations.
Do not send hard copies
HEC instructs applicants not to send hard copies unless specifically requested by email. Update your email and phone number before submission, and avoid the final-day rush because a saved or incomplete form is not treated as submitted.
How to make the application stronger
Connect study to development
The programme uses six themes, including science and technology, health systems, innovation, peace and governance, resilience, and access and inclusion. Explain one real Pakistani problem, the specific skills the course provides and how you will apply them after returning.
Final check
Verify degree dates, percentages, HAT category, university choices and reference details. Use evidence rather than broad claims. Submit early, download the final PDFs and retain confirmation emails. The deadline is strict and HEC cannot accept an application missing from either portal.
