Islamabad Crime Report: 40+ Key Cases in September 2026

The Islamabad Crime Report for September 2026 has brought renewed attention to robbery, motorcycle theft and street crime in different parts of the federal capital.

More than 40 criminal incidents were reported across Islamabad during a recent one-week period, according to figures published by Business Recorder. The cases ranged from robberies and mobile-phone snatching to vehicle theft and other street crimes.

The figures don't represent the complete September total, as the month is still underway. Still, they offer an early picture of the crime situation in the capital.

Islamabad Crime Report Shows Activity Across Several Areas

The Islamabad Crime Report shows that crime wasn't restricted to one neighbourhood or police jurisdiction.

Tarnol, Aabpara, Industrial Area, Sabzi Mandi, Kohsar, Margalla and Lohi Bheer were among the areas mentioned in recent reporting on criminal incidents. According to a Business Recorder report published on September 6, the cases recorded during the period included more than 22 incidents involving vehicle theft or carjacking.

Authorities also recorded around 10 robbery cases, six street-crime incidents involving cash or mobile phones, two dacoity cases and one murder.

Tarnol, Margalla and Sabzi Mandi Among Reported Areas

Some police jurisdictions recorded several cases within a short period. In Tarnol, two robbery cases, one street-crime incident and two auto-theft cases were reported. Sabzi Mandi police recorded two robberies along with one street-crime case.

Margalla and Koral police jurisdictions also reported two robbery cases each, according to the same report.

The spread of these incidents is significant because it shows that street and property crime isn't confined to a single part of Islamabad.

Motorcycle Theft Remains a Concern

Motorcycle theft was another prominent part of the reported crime figures. Four motorcycles were reported stolen from areas falling under Aabpara Police Station. Ramana, Tarnol and Khanna police jurisdictions also recorded motorcycle theft cases.

Two motorcycles were reportedly stolen from each of those three areas. Separate cases were also reported from Karachi Company, Shalimar, Golra and Humak.

For residents who rely on motorcycles for daily travel, the numbers are another reminder that parking security remains an issue, particularly in busy commercial and residential areas.

Police Arrest Two Suspected Theft Gang Members

Police also reported progress in their operations against suspected theft gangs during the first week of September. On September 2, Islamabad Police said a team from Margalla Police Station had arrested two suspected members of a theft gang who were wanted in connection with several cases.

Police said four stolen motorcycles, cash, other stolen items and a weapon were recovered during the operation. Further investigation into the suspects and their alleged involvement in other cases was continuing at the time of the police statement.

More Than 2,600 Cases Reported Earlier in 2026

September's figures are part of a wider crime picture in Islamabad. Earlier this year, Dawn reported that at least 2,600 cases of robbery, snatching, burglary, theft, dacoity and auto theft had been recorded during the first five months of 2026.

Those figures included 528 robberies, 296 snatching incidents, 317 burglaries, 641 theft cases and 892 auto-theft incidents. The combined value of cash and property reportedly taken in those cases was more than Rs1.3 billion.

The earlier numbers suggest that property crime and street crime have remained persistent concerns in the capital throughout the year rather than appearing only in September.

Islamabad Police Increase Checks and Patrol Measures

Police officials have also issued fresh directions to field officers to increase action against robbery and motorcycle-theft gangs. During an August 20 crime meeting, SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza directed officers in City Zone to strengthen operations against people suspected of involvement in robbery and motorcycle theft.

Police officials were also told to improve preventive policing and field presence.

Similar instructions followed in early September. On September 3, Islamabad Police said officers had been directed to keep a closer watch on suspicious people and vehicles at checkpoints and other duty points. Residents were also encouraged to contact their nearest police station or use the Pucar-15 emergency service if they notice suspicious activity.

What September's Crime Figures Tell Us

The latest Islamabad Crime Report should be read as an early snapshot rather than a final monthly crime count. September 2026 is still in progress, which means more FIRs, arrests and recovery figures may be reported before the month ends.

Even so, the cases recorded so far point to several recurring problems. Motorcycle theft remains noticeable. Robbery and street snatching are being reported in multiple police jurisdictions, while police continue to announce arrests and recovery operations.

For residents, basic precautions can make a difference. Motorcycles and cars should be parked in secure or well-lit locations whenever possible. Phones and cash should be handled carefully in crowded areas, markets and roadside locations.

Suspicious activity or a crime in progress should be reported to the police without delay. As further official data becomes available, September's overall crime picture will become clearer.
