Passport Fee in Pakistan 2026: Normal, Urgent and NADRA ID Card Rates
Passport fee in Pakistan for a 36-page, 5-year e-passport is Rs9,000 normal and Rs15,000 urgent, and a Smart NIC costs Rs750 normal, with the full fee tables inside.

Passport fee in Pakistan for a 36-page, 5-year e-passport is Rs9,000 on normal processing and Rs15,000 on urgent processing, according to the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, known as DGIP. The passport fee depends on the number of pages, the validity period and whether you choose normal or urgent service, and the fee, once paid, is non-refundable, so check the full table before you apply.
Pakistani passports are now issued as e-passports, which are chip-based passports with your biometric data stored on a chip. The DGIP has replaced the ordinary Machine Readable Passport, known as MRP, with the e-passport. Pakistan stopped issuing new MRPs on October 15, 2026, and new applications and renewals are now issued as e-passports in 36 or 72 pages only.
This guide lists every passport fee for e-passports, NADRA cards and Punjab driving licences, so you can budget the full cost before you apply.
Passport Fee: The 2026 E-Passport Table
The passport fee table below is the fee schedule the DGIP publishes for the ordinary e-passport inside Pakistan. Normal processing takes 21 days, and urgent processing takes 5 days. Fast Track service is not available for e-passport delivery.
A 36-page e-passport with 5 years validity costs Rs9,000 normal and Rs15,000 urgent. A 36-page e-passport with 10 years validity costs Rs13,500 normal and Rs22,500 urgent. A 72-page e-passport with 5 years validity costs Rs16,500 normal and Rs27,000 urgent. A 72-page e-passport with 10 years validity costs Rs24,750 normal and Rs40,500 urgent.
The 10-year, 36-page passport is the most popular choice, because it costs only Rs4,500 more than the 5-year passport on normal processing and lasts twice as long. The 72-page passport suits frequent travellers who run out of pages, because each visa and entry stamp takes a page.
For most travellers, the passport fee for the 10-year, 36-page option is the best value, because the extra Rs4,500 buys five more years of validity.
Fees are paid cashless. You can pay by Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card, or through e-Sahulat or JazzCash for inland applications. The DGIP revises passport charges from time to time, so always confirm the exact amount on the official DGIP website, dgip.gov.pk, before you pay.
Passport Fee: How to Apply and Renew Online
The passport fee is only one part of the process. To apply, you need a valid NADRA identity document, such as a CNIC, a Smart CNIC or a NICOP for eligible overseas applicants. Your identity is verified against the NADRA system, so your NADRA record must be valid and current. Children need the appropriate NADRA child identity documentation and parental records.
If you are only renewing, you can apply online on the DGIP portal at onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk, as long as your passport has expired or has less than a year left and your details match NADRA's record. Inside Pakistan, online is for renewal only. You pay by card or through e-Sahulat or JazzCash, and collect the passport from the passport office you choose.
Keep your payment receipt, because the passport fee is non-refundable even if your application is delayed or rejected.
DGIP states that both first name and last name are mandatory for an e-passport application. You can also apply at any Regional Passport Office or NADRA Executive and Passport Processing Centre. Applications made at missions abroad are charged in local currency under a separate schedule, and the inland rupee fees in this guide do not apply there.
NADRA ID Card: Smart NIC Fees
Before you can get a passport, you need a valid NADRA card, and the NADRA fee structure is published on nadra.gov.pk/feeStructure. A new first-time ordinary CNIC is free on normal processing, which takes 15 days. Urgent processing costs Rs1,150 and takes 12 days, and executive processing costs Rs2,150 and takes 6 days.
A CNIC modification, duplicate or renewal costs Rs400 on normal processing, Rs1,150 on urgent and Rs2,150 on executive. A Smart NIC, whether new, modification, duplicate or renewal, costs Rs750 on normal processing, which takes 31 days, Rs1,500 on urgent, which takes 23 days, and Rs2,500 on executive, which takes 9 days. Home delivery within Pakistan costs Rs165 on top.
For overseas Pakistanis, a Smart NICOP for Zone A, which covers the USA and Europe, costs USD 39 normal, USD 57 urgent and USD 75 executive. A Child Registration Certificate, known as B-Form, starts from Rs50.
You can renew your CNIC online through NADRA's Pak ID website at id.nadra.gov.pk or the Pak ID mobile app, without visiting a NADRA office in most cases, and the exact fee is shown in Pak ID before you pay.
Driving Licence in Punjab: Fees
A driving licence is the third document most Pakistanis need, and Punjab has moved its licensing online. As of mid-June 2026, applications run through Dastak, the Government of Punjab's single-window platform, at dastak.punjab.gov.pk or the Dastak app. The DLIMS portal at dlims.punjab.gov.pk handles verification, e-license download and card tracking.
The online learner permit costs Rs500 per category, according to the DLIMS help section. A learner permit is valid for 6 months, and you can appear for the practical driving test after 42 days of issuance. You can apply for a learner permit online or visit any Police Khidmat Markaz with your original CNIC.
The regular licence fee has three parts: a test fee paid before the road test, a licence fee paid after you pass, and a Rs480 courier charge for posting the card. The licence fee applies for one year, and regular licences can be taken for 1 to 5 years.
For a motorcycle, the test fee is Rs50, the licence fee is Rs450 and the courier is Rs480, a total of Rs980. For a car or jeep, the test fee is Rs150, the licence fee is Rs1,350 and the courier is Rs480, a total of Rs1,980.
For LTV, the test fee is Rs150, the licence fee is Rs1,850 and the courier is Rs480, a total of Rs2,480. For a rickshaw, the test fee is Rs100, the licence fee is Rs400 and the courier is Rs480, a total of Rs980.
Add the Rs500 learner permit, and a first one-year car licence costs about Rs2,480 from learner to card, while a bike licence costs about Rs1,480 the same way. A one-year renewal costs Rs450 for a motorcycle or Rs1,350 for a car, plus the Rs480 courier, with extra fines if you renew late.
Fees are paid digitally through a PSID challan, and the amount on your PSID is the figure that applies, so confirm it before paying. Driving school course fees are separate: at the City Traffic Police driving school in Rawalpindi, a car course costs Rs5,000, an LTV course Rs7,000, and a motorcycle course Rs3,000 for women only.
