Minor Girl’s Alleged Marriage to Elderly Man in Kuchlak; Father Arrested

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has taken notice of the alleged marriage of a minor girl to an elderly man in Kuchlak, on the outskirts of Quetta. Authorities have launched an investigation into the case, while the girl’s father, Abdul Bari, has been arrested in Chaman.

Chaman Deputy Commissioner Habib Bangulzai said officials are in contact with Quetta police for the handover of Abdul Bari and the registration of a case.

According to the deputy commissioner, initial information suggests there may be a connection between this matter and the killing of a 15-year-old girl in Kuchlak. However, authorities are still investigating, and the exact circumstances have yet to be established.

Balochistan Chief Minister’s Adviser for Information and Political Affairs Shahid Rind said the government has directed police and the district administration to speed up efforts to arrest the main suspect and any other people who may have been involved.

He said action would be taken according to the law based on the facts that emerge during the investigation. Relevant authorities have also been directed to take steps for the girl’s protection and ensure that she receives justice.

Shahid Rind added that negligence in a case involving a minor would not be tolerated. He said the Balochistan government remains committed to protecting children and enforcing laws related to their rights and safety.

He also said that Balochistan has a law aimed at preventing child marriage and that anyone found to have violated the law would face legal action in accordance with the relevant procedures.
